José Antonio Salfity, PhD
Founder
Dr Salfity is a consultant in the geology and stratigraphy of the Central Andes of northern Argentina.
Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Sciences, National University of Tucumán (1968).
PhD in Geological Sciences, National University of Salta (1978).
Formerly, he has worked as an exploration geologist for the National Atomic Energy Commission of Argentina, a researcher at the National Research Council of Argentina and a Professor at the National University of Salta, where he also advised on and directed doctoral and degree theses.
He has published seventy articles on the geology of the Central Andes of Argentina, and edited both Cretaceous tectonics of the Andes (1994, 2013), Vieweg, Germany and Cenozoic geology of the Central Andes of Argentina (2011), SCS Publisher, Salta.
An Honorary Member of both the Argentine Geological Association and the Argentine Association of Sedimentology, he is also a Life Member of the Argentine Paleontological Association. On an international level, he is a Member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and a Fellow of both the Geological Society of America and the Society of Economic Geologists.
Anteriormente trabajó como geólogo de exploración para la Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica de la Argentina, y como investigador en el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones de la Argentina. Se desempeñó también como profesor de la Universidad Nacional de Salta, donde fue consejero y director de tesis doctorales y profesionales.
Publicó setenta artículos sobre la geología de los Andes Centrales argentinos y editó Cretaceous tectonics of the Andes (1994, 2013), Vieweg, Alemania, y Cenozoic geology of the Central Andes of Argentina (2011) SCS Publisher, Salta.
Miembro Honorario de la Asociación Geológica Argentina y de la Asociación Argentina de Sedimentología, es también Miembro Vitalicio de la Asociación Paleontológica Argentina. A nivel internacional es Miembro de American Association of Petroleum Geologists y Fellow de Geological Society of America y de Society of Economic Geologists.
